Genus Laufeia Simon 1889
The type species is Laufeia aenea described below, there is also L.perakensis (Simon,1901) from Sumatra, unknown to us but which may be congeneric. On the other hand, L.keyserlingi (Thorell,1892) is apparently not congeneric and the same may concern L.eucola (Thorell,1892) from Sumatra and L.aerihirta (Urquhart,1888) form New Zealand. Male.
Cephalothorax - from brownish fawn to dark brown with copper gleam, eyes surroundings darker. The flat eye field and dorsal surface, stretchs beyond fovea, the posterior slope steep. Abdomen flat, covered with scutum, greyish fawn with golden shade. Both cephalothorax and abdomen devoid of any distinct colour pattern, with remnants of thin sparse and short whitish setae.
The spider presents frontally its coloration od anterior legs, rings and surfaces of other legs; chelicerae are dark brown. Contrasting spots are provided by fawnish dorsal surfaces of three apical segments of pedipalps, with white setae surrounding the front eyes. Tarsi II-IV are also light yellowish. Inner cheliceral tooth bifid (fig.84)("fissidentati"). Maxillary plates and labium dark brown, white tipped, sternum brown. Coxae greyish.
Abdomen greyish. Palpal organ (figs.86-87): typical for Euophrydinae, with small twisted round embolus.
The characters unusual for the subfamily are: broad long process posteriorly to embolus, corresponding perhaps to conductor, located along the anterior edge of embolus(figs.88-89) and femur with ventral apical protuberance. Anterior legs dark brown, remaining with lateral and ventral surfaces darker brown or fawnish brown, dorsal surfaces of patellae and tibiae II-IV lighter from light brown to yellowish in paler specimens. Proximal halves of metatarsi and tarsi II-IV light.
