FIGS drawn by Hiroyoshi IKEDA (1995) Logunov and Marusik (2000) COMMENTS; Both the diagnosis of Tasa davidi (Schenkel, 1963) (i.e.a minor difference in the sharpness of the tibial apophysis) and the figures of Tasa nipponica@provided by Bohdanowicz and Proszynski (1987: figs. 300-303) leave almost no doubt that both species names are to be considered synonyms. The former species was originally described and then repeatedlly reported from China (Jangxi, Hunan, Shanxi) (vide Schenkel, 1963: sub Thianella d.; Wesoloeska, 1981a; Peng et all., 1993b; Song et al., 1999). We could not re-examine the holotype of T. davidi, as it was not found in the collection of the Museum national d'Histoire naturarelle (Paris, France) (C.Rollard, in litt.). Therefore, we do not dare formalize the synonymy prior to a revision of the holotype (or topotype) of T. davidi. |
@@@@@@Genus Tasa Wesolowska, 1981
Thianella Schenkel, 1963: 411, nec Strand, 1907: 448. The genus contains two species now, type-species T. davidi (Schenkel, 1963) (Wesolowska 181b: 157-159, ff. 88-92) from Southern China (?): Hantchongfu and here described T. nipponica sp.n. The genus is characterized by unusual structure of male palpal organ in which diamond-shaped bulbus is distally prolonged by thick embolus bent laterally and then medially (hook-shaped ) (figs. 300-303). Tibial apophysis basically biramous with additional small teeth; ventral branch smaller, in T. davidi needle-shaped, in T. nipponica rather thick (fig. 302). Femur of pedipalps ventrally with triangular protuberance. Cephalothorax rather elongate, flat and not much elevated. Pigmentation devoid of distinctly contrasting features. The systematic position of the genus is not clear, there are some resemblances to Aerurillus, but no sure arguments. Female unkown. (Bohd. and Prosz.,1987) |

Male. cephalothorax yellowish-brown with
golden metallic gleam, dorsally almost
flat,
over eyes I scarce whitish setae and
yellowish
bristles. Eye field brownish, eyes
surroundings
(except anterior median pair) blackish.
Ventral
margin of carapace black. Legs I brownish-grey, other legs yellowish-grey with grey rings at joints of metatarsus, tibia and patella; all legs with whitish bristles and spines on metatarsus. Abdomen dark grey with inconspicuous greyish-brown pattern (resembling herring-bone) and with lighter dots, covered with grey setae and whitish bristles laterally. Lateral surfaces with longitudinal lines of yellowish dots. Anal turbercle and spinnerets blackish. Facial part of cephalothorax contracted to eyes diameter; clypeus very narrow bordered black; chelicerae relatively long and thin, yellowish-fawn with 1 retromarginal and 1 (bifid on right chelicerae) retromarginal tooth. Palpal organ shown on figs. 300-303. Sternum greysih-yellow with some whitish setae. Abdomen ventrally greyish-yellow, klaterally with longitudinal lines of yellowish dots. Both remaining specimens similar. Differences: cephalothorax more fawnish-brown, also legs are pigmented more intensley.
