Genus Yaginumaella described by Bohdanowicz and Proszynski, 1987

The genus Yaginumaella was first proposed by Proszynski (1976:17) by indicating the type-species - Pellenes ususudi Yaginuma, 1972, a formal description as well as additon of more species given by Proszynski (1979:319-320) and Zabka (1981:5-41). The present position of the genus becomes uncertain with rediscovery of an obscure genus Ptocasius Simon, 1885 (type-species P.weyersi Simon, 1885 from Sumatra) by Zabka (1985), apparently congeneric with some Yaginumaella species. It remeins an open question whether Jaoanese species Yaginumaella should be transferred to Ptocasius - we leave this untill results of further comparative studies will become available.

@@@ Species Yaginumaella hyogoensis sp.n.

Material. 1 Š- holotypus - Japan: Hyogo Pref., 8. VII. 1963, leg. T.Yaginuma - coll. T. Yaginuma.
Female. Cephalothorax brownish-fawn with suffused gryish lines radiating marginally from the flat dorsal surface. Area of eyes I and III darker which leaves lighter fawnish spot on the eye field, constricted at the level of eyes III; it is followed posteriorly by contrasting white round spot at fovea and narrowing stripe ending before hind margin of cephalothorax.
Abdomen macerated and changed now - looks almost white with sparse short setae and traces of small grey spots making median posterior streak. Sides ,mosaic of small dark grey spots on whitish background. Spinnerets yellowish white.
Legs I brown with yellowish dorsal spots proximmaly and distally on femur, proximally on patella, tarsus also yellowish. Part of the darkening of distal segments may be, however, an artefact. Legs II - IV yellowish with delicate brown rings distally on femora (with dorsal apex of that segment white usually with transversal row of three thick but short brown setae), distally on patellae and metatarsi, two rings - distal and proximal on tibiae.
Clypeus and chelicerae brownish-fawn, with whitish bald spots beneath eyes I lateral and whitish pedipalps (in Y.ususudi colours darker brown, the white spot beneath eyes I lateral consists only of thin white setae and is less striling). No beard or other distinct, contrasting setae.
Maxillary plates and labium fawnish, white tipped. Sternum and coxae whitish. Venter whitish with median streak of faint greyish spots.
Epigyne (fig. 304-305) is relatively similar to that of Y. striatipes (Grube, 1861) (Proszynski, 1979: 320, ff. 323-324) from Primore and mouth to Amur, USSR. It differs from it externally by more regular oval shape and thinner sclerotized flaps, more broadly spaced. Internally the straight part of copulatory canals is shorter and spermathecae do form more complicated knot of coils. The differnces with Y. ususudi are obvious but there are no doubts of relationships of these forms.

The material was once dried and now is partially shrunken, macerated and changed. This permits only a partial description.
Male. Cephalothorax fawn with eye field dark brown, shining, median yellowish streak along the thorax and two marginal ones. Abdomen with yellowish median streak of about four-fifth length of abdomen, followed laterally and posteriorly by greyish streaks, in some specimens broken by a pair of large light yellow spots in two-thirds of abdominal length, rwesembling somewhat pattern in Sitticus. Marginal line of whitish setae, sometimes expanding on whole sides, otherwise sides below it grey dotted.
Clypeus and chelicerae brownish. Eyes I surrounded with indistinct white setae. No contrasting beard. Pedipalps whitish, cymbium fawnish, rounded.
Legs I fawnish with anterior and posterior surfaces of femur continuously dark brown. Other legs uniformly yellowish.
Palpal organ shown on figs. 306-308.
Female generally darker than in Y.hyogoensis but follows the same pattern, which seems to be typical for the genus. Cephalothorax brown with light median streak. Abdomen dorsally dark with median light streak ending in two-third of abdominal length. Spinnerets fawnish. Legs darker than in Y.hyogoensis, with similar pattern. However, in one specimen with typical epigyne the cephalothorax is fawn, with light median and two light marginal streaks and legs are uniformly light fawnish.
Epigyne oval with longer axis pararell to main axis of the body and not transversal as in other Palaearctic species. Sclerotized pocekts typical for majority of Himallayan species developed here as triangular flaps locked anteriorly, on both sides of copulatory openings. Copulatory canals lomg. straight and broad, turning posteriorly medially and iassing into heavily sclerotized spermathecae (figs. 309-312).

@IKEDA's@CommentsFI examined the many specimens
of ususudi female, so I found the wide variation of epigynum
collected at same locallity.

@Prosynski's@important remarks that Yaginumaella specimens
in Japan are not Yaginumaella striatipes, but Yaginumaella
ususudi.

@However, the carefull examination are needed.
